We all have been in a situation where we see previews of a movie and then say to ourselves " oh cool movie I think I wanna go see that one it looks really good". But suddenly we think to ourselves well I don't want to go waste money on a terrible movie so I will be smart and check out the reviews of the movie. So we go and glance at the reviews of the movie and we see terrible reviews, mediocre reviews and sometimes very good reviews (although its is very rare).
We then start to experience a phenomenon where the reviewers start to tell us how terrible the movie was and why we shouldn't go see it. They list a lot of problems with the movie but don't go into detail why they think the movie was good or bad. I'm sure many of you feel the same way I probably do upset that movie reviews online are all terrible but when we actually go and see the movie we are like well this movie was actually pretty good.
We can't rely on movie critics to be honest with us because of a couple of reasons. One reason being that they get paid to write reviews and sometimes those reviews are biased. What I mean by that is that it doesn't matter whether they liked the movie or not they get paid to write a review on the movie the way their boss wants it done. In this case we never actually get to see a real honest review from a person who has seen the movie. Instead we only see a review of a person who was paid to write a review a certain way. The second problem with a lot of movie reviewers is that they have too high of expectations. What do I mean by that? They don't go and enjoy the movie for what it is instead their expectations are way high. What I mean by this is that they think every movie that comes out will be a blockbuster hit and grade it based off of that.
The truth is we live in the real world and not every movie ever made is going to be an A+ movie. It is better to grade movies on whether they are entertaining to a point or not. Not to rate every movie based off other blockbuster movies. There are movies out there that may not have the best story line or the best writing but they are unique and good in their own way.
This is not a website dedicated to trashing movie reviews. There are some good honest reviewers out there and to those I admire their work. But unfortunately those good movie reviewers are rare but they are still out there. What I am implying is that we shouldn't look down upon other peoples' opinions on a movie. If the movie has bad elements to it I would like to hear it, but the point is be honest with your readers tell them if they should at least check the movie out for themselves. Too many times they will tell you to not waste money on the movie, but then you go see it anyways and then you say to yourself "This movie was actually amazing".
I will be posting reviews of movies that I have gone to see. In addition I will be listing bits and pieces from the movie as well talking about how the story/movie progresses. I realize right away not many will agree with my opinions but I will state whether something in the movie is good or bad and why I believe it is. One thing I will not do is tell people whether they should go see it or not. I think that people that go to see these movies should decide on their own. I"m practically reviewing it from my point of view but I will be upfront and honest and then let the reader decide if the movie is worth viewing. I am bringing the critique of movies back to the days where movie critics were honest with reviews. As a warning a lot of what I talk about on this site will be spoilers so if you haven't seen the movies in question I would hold up reading this website until you go see the movie first.
