The next movie to be reviewed will be "Insurgent" movie. I will be listing some good and bad things about the movie while kind of giving it a summary of what happens. There is a lot of ****SPOILERS **** in this review so if you haven't seen the movie yet I wouldn't read this further until after watching it.
For starters before going on with this review readers should know that that is a sequel to another movie known as "Divergent" so if you haven't seen that movie yet either I would recommend you see that first before watching "Insurgent".
The movie starts off with Trice played by "Shailene Woodley" and Four -- also known as Tobias Eaton -- played by Theo James going on the run trying to figure out how they are gonna take down the evil leader of the Erudite, Jeanine, played by "Kate Winslet".
At the beginning Trice, Four, and Peter -- played by "Miles Teller" are in the peaceful Amity Stronghold. There they devise their next move and decide what they should do next. Although things quickly heat up as Jeanine of Erudite needs a "Divergent" to open the box by completing all the trials. She sends her army to go and see if they can find Divergents for the experiment. When the Erudite army gets to the Amity Strong hold they search for Divergents but end up finding Trice, Four and Peter. The man to lead the Erudite soldiers is an old friend from the Dauntless faction Eric, played by "Jai Courtney". Eric attempts to apprehend the group but fails to get them. Although Peter is the one who revealed where they were and decides to change sides temporarily. I liked this part because it sets up past faction members against each other and creates a nice plot point for the movie. I also like how the movie begins with some much needed gun fighting action as it allows the audience to ease into the movie nicely.
The movie then follows Trice and Four who meet up with a faction-less group that doesn't belong to any type of faction. The leader of the group is Four's Mom who is responsible for trying to lead the faction-less group against Jeanine and Erudite. The problem is that the group is pretty big in size but they need Four and Trice's Dauntless group as well to come together to overthrow Erudite. I thought that this was a good part of the movie as well but they could have done a little more to spruce it up. They could have added a few more scenes where Trice and Four interacted more with the faction-less group. Nonetheless during this time Trice was forced to go to Jeanine to do her experiment trial to open the box that needs a divergent.
Towards the end of the movie Trice goes to Jeanine and the movie shows a couple of scenes where Trice is doing the trials to open the box. This was my favorite element of the movie in that Trice was completing certain trial in a virtual world but if she died in it it would kill her permanently. But before this Trice had met her brother Caleb Prior played by Ansel Elgort, once again since the first movie "Insurgent". Peter from the beginning of the movie who switched sides, decided to switch back again to Trice's side and helped her escape along with Four who came back with Dauntless and Faction-less to rescue Trice along with taking out Jeanine of Erudite. I liked this surprise in the movie because it was unexpected for Peter to switch sides again so I think the movie did a good thing by creating suspense on this part.
Anyways at the end of the movie Trice completes the final trial and unlocks the secret to the box. The truth was that divergents were not the problem but the five factions were the problem. Divergents who take all factions were the thing that combined all factions into one. Jeanine made every effort to eradicate Divergents but she ended up being wrong. The people who built the cube finally allowed the factions to go past the gate with their people. Before that all factions were always known to be inside of a wall where they could never leave. I liked the ending of the insurgent movie itself, but I haven't read the books so I can't comment on the books at all.
But overall the movie was really good as there is a lot of action, love, and drama in it. It is one of those movies that keep you entertained straight through where you don't realize how much time has passed. With this movie I thought it was well done other than wanting to see more of Faction-less in the middle part of the movie, it was a very enjoyable movie to watch. What would you have done different if you were the director of the movie? Would you change any of the scenes around or keep the movie just the way it is?
